Eun-Joo Kwak, D.M.

 


DR. EUN-JOO KWAK is Assistant Professor of Piano and Coordinator of Performance Studies at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, where she teaches applied piano, chamber music, piano pedagogy, and music literature. An internationally known performer and educator, her performances have led her to Russia, Asia and throughout the United States, appearing at the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts in Chicago, American Landmark Festival in New York, Taipei National Recital Hall in Taiwan, and the Seoul Arts Center in Korea. As a sought- after soloist she has performed with numerous orchestras including the Chicago Chamber Orchestra, Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra, Sun-Hwa Symphony Orchestra in Korea, and most recently with the Racine Symphony Orchestra. In addition to winning the Concerto Competition at Northwestern University, she has earned prizes in prestigious competitions such as the Samick Piano Competition in Seoul, and the International Beethoven Sonata Competition in Memphis. She is also a recipient of the Scholarship of the Korean Embassy of the United States in Washington, D.C., and the Yule Bogue Young Artists Award in San Francisco. Her performances have been broadcast through KBS- FM (Korea Broadcasting System), WFMT-Chicago (98.7 FM), and the Christian Radio of Taiwan. As a chamber musician, Kwak frequently collaborates with musicians in the Chicago and Milwaukee musical communities. She is also active as a clinician and adjudicator. Dr. Kwak earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Seoul National University, Master of Music from Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University, and Doctor of Music from Northwestern University.

She lives in Kenosha with her husband, Professor James Crowley of UW-Parkside, and their daughter Annabelle.

Dr. Kwak is featured in the Millennium Edition of the Who's Who of American Women.
